The clinic was founded by Doug Jones, Health and Performance Director at Red Bull UK and formerly physiotherapist to Sale Sharks, and the assessment and rehabilitation methods used here are the ones the team uses with professional athletes. You do not need a GP referral, we accept all major insurers, and you can book online in under a minute.

Insurance
Prices and insurance
An initial assessment at Sale is £75 with a physiotherapist, £95 with a senior physiotherapist or £110 with a consultant, and lasts an hour. Follow-ups run from £40 for 30 minutes to £110 for an hour, depending on who you see. Sports therapy is £40, £60 or £75 for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, and a 15-minute stretch clinic is £20. A new pelvic health or postnatal assessment is £100. All prices are shown before you book, and there is nothing to pay until your appointment.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a Brooklands member to see a physio?
No. The clinic is open to everyone. Book online, come to the club’s main entrance on Whitehall Road at your appointment time, and your clinician will meet you there.
Where exactly is the clinic?
Inside Brooklands Health Club, Whitehall Road, Sale, M33 3NL, in the Brooklands area south of Sale town centre. Brooklands Metrolink stop is a ten-minute walk and Sale stop about twenty. By car it is five minutes from Sale centre and ten from Altrincham.
How much does physiotherapy cost in Sale?
At Brooklands an hour-long initial assessment is £75, £95 or £110 depending on the grade of physiotherapist, and follow-ups start at £40. Sports therapy starts at £40 for 30 minutes. You see the price of every appointment type before you book.
Is private physiotherapy better than the NHS?
NHS physiotherapy is excellent, but in Trafford it usually means a GP referral, a wait of weeks and short appointments. Privately you are seen within days, usually by the same clinician throughout, for a full hour at your first visit, with no referral needed. Many patients come to us for the assessment and the early weeks and then continue with NHS care.
What is a “red flag” in physio?
A symptom that needs a doctor before a physiotherapist: numbness in the saddle area or both legs, loss of bladder or bowel control, unexplained weight loss, fever with back pain, or pain after a serious fall. Every assessment at Altius screens for these first. If we find one we tell you the same day and help you get seen.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly as a self-paying patient. If you are claiming through private medical insurance, check with your insurer whether they want a GP referral before your first appointment.
Can I use my health insurance at the Sale clinic?
Yes. We are registered with AXA, Bupa, WPA, Aviva and most other insurers. Give us your policy number and any authorisation code before your appointment so it is billed to your insurer rather than to you.
Which services are only at Hale?
Podiatry and chiropody, shockwave therapy, hydrotherapy, joint injections and the rehabilitation gym are at our Hale clinic, four miles away on Park Road. Sale covers physiotherapy, sports therapy and massage, women’s health physiotherapy, neurological physiotherapy and rehabilitation testing.
