Whether you work from an office, from home or across several locations, your workstation can have a significant impact on how you feel.
Poor workstation setup and prolonged periods of sitting can contribute to neck pain, back pain, shoulder tension, headaches and discomfort in the arms, wrists or hands. Our specially trained physiotherapists at Altius Healthcare will conduct a workstation assessment to help identify the factors contributing to your symptoms and provide practical recommendations tailored to you and your working environment.
A remote workstation assessment by video takes 45 minutes and costs £200.
Our workstation assessments are carried out by experienced physiotherapists with a detailed understanding of posture, movement and musculoskeletal health.
We look beyond simply adjusting your chair. Your physiotherapist will consider your workstation, equipment, working posture, daily routine and any pain or health concerns that may be affecting you.
We provide workstation assessments for:
Assessments can be completed remotely by video appointment, or in person at your home or workplace.
A display screen equipment, or DSE, assessment reviews how an individual uses equipment such as computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, tablets and mobile devices.
The assessment considers the whole working environment, rather than focusing on one piece of equipment. This includes:
Following the assessment, we will explain any changes that could make the workstation safer, more comfortable and better suited to the individual.
Your physiotherapist will ask about your role, typical working day, current workstation and any pain, stiffness, fatigue or discomfort you experience.
We will also consider previous injuries, existing health conditions and any difficulties you have carrying out your work.
We review how your chair, desk, screens, keyboard, mouse and other equipment are positioned.
Your physiotherapist will observe your working posture and identify areas where your body may be placed under unnecessary strain.
Where possible, we will adjust your existing workstation during the appointment. Small changes to chair height, screen position or equipment placement can often make a noticeable difference.
You will receive practical advice based on your individual needs. Recommendations may include changes to your existing setup, suitable equipment, movement strategies or changes to your working routine.
A clear workstation assessment report can be provided following the appointment. This will summarise our findings, adjustments made and any further recommendations for the individual or employer.
A workstation assessment may be beneficial when:
You do not need to wait until pain becomes severe. Early assessment can help identify manageable changes before symptoms begin to affect comfort, concentration or attendance at work.
A comfortable and well-organised workstation can help employees work more effectively while reducing avoidable physical strain.
Altius Healthcare works with businesses across Greater Manchester and the wider UK to provide practical workplace health support.

A remote assessment takes 45 minutes and costs £200. You can book it online.
Our assessments are delivered by healthcare professionals who understand both workstation ergonomics and the physical factors that contribute to pain.
We do more than complete a checklist. We assess the individual, their symptoms, their role and the way they move throughout the working day.
With clinics across Greater Manchester and a team experienced in physiotherapy, rehabilitation and corporate healthcare, we can provide continued support when an employee requires treatment or further assessment.
An individual assessment will usually take approximately 45 minutes. Additional time may be required where a detailed written report, equipment recommendations or liaison with an employer is needed.
