Frequently asked questions
Is your clinic actually in Altrincham?
Our address is Hale, Altrincham, WA15 9NN, and Hale is one of Altrincham’s villages, about a mile and a half south of the town centre. The clinic is The Old Barn on Park Road, off Ashley Road. It is a five-minute drive from Altrincham Interchange and a fifteen-minute walk from Hale station.
How do I get there from Altrincham Interchange?
By car or taxi, head south on the A538 Ashley Road through Hale village and turn onto Park Road, about five minutes. On foot it is a mile and a half, around half an hour. Hale station, one stop from Altrincham on the Mid-Cheshire line, is a fifteen-minute walk from the clinic.
How much does physiotherapy cost?
An initial hour-long assessment with a consultant physiotherapist is £110. Follow-ups are £60 for 30 minutes, £85 for 45 minutes or £110 for an hour with a consultant, and £95 for an hour with a senior physiotherapist. You see the price for every appointment type before you book.
Is private physiotherapy better than the NHS?
Not better, different. NHS physiotherapy in Altrincham is free at the point of use but usually needs a GP referral and a wait. Booking privately means you choose the clinician, you are seen within days, appointments are up to an hour, and you have the rehabilitation gym and the same physiotherapist for your whole course of treatment. Many of our patients use both, coming to us for the assessment and the early weeks while an NHS referral is processed.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly as a self-paying patient. If you are claiming through private medical insurance, check with your insurer whether they want a GP referral before your first appointment.
Which insurers do you accept?
We are registered with most private insurers including Bupa, AXA, WPA and Aviva. Bring your policy number and any authorisation code to your first appointment.
