About Dan
Dan is a senior physiotherapist with a decade of clinical experience spanning elite sport, NHS musculoskeletal services, and private practice. That breadth means he has treated everything from professional athletes managing acute match-day injuries to NHS patients with complex, long-standing conditions — and he brings the best of both environments to his work at Altius.
His time in elite sport gave Dan a strong foundation in injury prevention, structured rehabilitation, and return-to-performance programming. His NHS experience added depth in managing chronic and multifactorial conditions where a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. The combination makes him particularly effective with patients who sit in the middle — active people dealing with recurring injuries, weekend athletes who want to train without pain, and desk-based professionals whose bodies are paying for years of inactivity.
Dan holds an MSc alongside his BSc, and is trained in dynamometry testing — an objective strength measurement tool that allows him to track progress with data rather than relying on feel alone. If something is improving, the numbers prove it. If it isn’t, the programme gets adjusted.
Conditions Dan treats
- Lower back pain — acute episodes, chronic or recurring back pain, disc-related symptoms, and postural pain from desk work or inactivity
- Shoulder injuries — impingement, rotator cuff problems, frozen shoulder, and post-surgical shoulder rehabilitation
- Lower limb sports injuries — hamstring, calf, and quadriceps strains, ligament injuries, and overuse conditions in runners and team sport athletes
- Injury prevention — screening, strength profiling, and tailored programmes to reduce injury risk for athletes and active individuals
- Performance rehabilitation — structured return-to-sport programmes with objective testing at each stage to ensure safe progression
Treatments Dan offers
Dan delivers manual therapy, shockwave therapy, acupuncture and dry needling, dynamometry testing for objective strength assessment, and tailored exercise prescription. His approach is evidence-based and data-driven — strength and movement are measured at the start of treatment and retested throughout to ensure the rehabilitation programme is delivering measurable results.
